Here is an email I received from Amazon the other day:

“Dear Amazon.com Customer,

As someone who has shown an interest in action figures, you might like to know that, for a limited time, you can get select Monsters vs. Aliens toys for $4.99″

Okay, they caught my interest, being curious I clicked the link.  It
listed 9 Alien vs Monsters Action Figures that were anywhere from 58-76% off.

At this point I was already plugging in the first one on the list into an eBay completed listing search.  I mean being 58-76% off, surely there was a way to make profit with these, right?

I went down the list of all the figures available for $4.99 entering them all into an eBay completed listing search and there were quite a few completed listings…but…NONE of them sold!  Oh wait a minute….I did find one that sold…Take a look below at the only listing I found out of all these action figures that DID sell:

Now I have to admit most of the seller listings were trying to sell the figures for $35 or more.  Maybe if you tried to only double or triple your money on these, it might work.  I really considered buying them and trying just that to see if maybe they would sell that way.  I even thought about maybe grouping them together in a "lot".  I really try and look at every angle and outside the box to make a deal work.  But, after I saw that a listing had ended with a buy it now price of $11.99 and still didn’t sell, I knew it was time to walk away from the deal and move on to the next one.  Even then I was still finding myself wanting to buy a few to save for a future rainy day, just in case they became highly sought after at a later date, which I sometimes will do.

Happy Reselling,
John
