If you had read my last post, I had mentioned how I found two Canon EOS Rebel K2 kits at Wal-mart the other day on clearance for $60 each. I also mentioned how I normally buy toy deals but have started branching out into other categories. I decided to list one of the kits on Amazon today for $150. To my amazement, it sold in less 8 hours. That covers my investment for the two and the next one will be pure profit. Here is the screen shot from the sale:

Needless to say, I’ve listed the second one, this time I’ll try for $175. I hope this inspires you to get out there and start finding deals.
Happy Reselling,
John

John,
In your story, you mention selling the cameras on Amazon. What other auction or selling sites have you had success or recommend? Thanks for your input.

Hey Gus,
The majority of the items I resell I list on eBay or Amazon, depending on which one seems to be getting a higher price for that particular item. I have also sold a few things through Craig’s list in the past, but don’t sell on there often. As far as other auction sites out there, I have tried a few others but they simply don’t get the traffic like eBay and Amazon.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,
How do you know if it’s a good deal, when you see it, and whether or not it will do well on line?
I have tried using Pocket Auctions on my smart phone, which can scan UPC barcodes and return matching auctions and completed listings. But, most of time, the return is “0 listings found” because the item description does not match the item descriptions on eBay.
Any hints?
Thank you,
Michael W.

Hey Michael,
In the case of these camera kits, I didn’t know they were good deals until I looked them up on eBay. They looked like a good deal but I wasn’t sure. I know more about toys than electronics so I had to do my research just like someone new who is starting out. I don’t have any experience scanning the item UPC, I manually type in the name of the product and do a completed listing search on eBay. Sometimes you will get 0 results, but more often than not I am able to get results. Have you tried manually looking them up on eBay completed listings? There are other techniques you can use besides your cell phone that I discuss in the video series as well.
Thanks for the question,
John

Something I’ve been wondering about for awhile is the concept of auction vs. buy-it-now. What’s your opinion on either? Do you price most of your stuff or how often do you put stuff up to auction? Is there any time when an auction is considered a more lucrative way to sell something?
