Buying used cell phones and reselling them on ebay can be very profitable. I bought this HTC Droid Eris for $105 and resold it for $219.99, making over $85 in clear profit.

Here is the actual phone I sold:

If you think you might be interested in learning how to buy and sell used cell phones you’ll want check out this new course I have been using. It’s called the Proven Ebay Course II. I’ve made over $370 total on 8 phones in the past couple weeks testing out this system. Bottom line is it works. When you sign up for the course you even get access to a forum where you can interact with other members who are working this course including myself.

Like anything else Jim Cockrum offers, there is a money back guarantee.

Vintage PC Games

This eBay seller has had success selling Vintage PC Games.

“I’ve had a lot of luck selling older video or computer games on Ebay. Vintage, in this category, can be as recent as mid-1990’s. There is a huge community of game players and collectors who are willing to pay for the harder to find games. Check out this 1996 computer game I recently sold. I paid $2.99 for it at a local thrift store and it sold for over $240.00!”

You can check out their blog here

$240 off a $3 investment? Now that’s a great profit!

Here is the actual listing for the vintage pc game they bought for $3 and resold for $240.

Recently a member found this used action figure toy at a thrift store for $1:

Most action figures for a $1 are great deals.  However, after buying used action figures many run into a common problem, especially when it’s their first time.

How do you identify what action figure you just bought and what series or line it was made from?

I’ve found the easy way to do this is to take a picture of it then go to one of the following places below for help:

One place sellers post pictures of toys they found to help get them identified is Ebay’s toys and hobby discussion thread

You can also post it on mattycollector’s facebook page, there are tons of collectors on there that may be able to help identify it.

Another good source is the Action Figure Insider Forums

Now if you are still curious as to what the action figure was in the above picture.  It turns out the action figure is a transformer titanium series Thrust.  I deal with action figures all the time and I didn’t even know that.    I did know though, that it was a transformer, so I went over to another resource I use from time to time, TransformersBay.  There I was able to get someone to help me determine what the name and series was of the figure in under 5 minutes.   So, if you want to sell transformer toys,  the above resources are great to use when trying to identify them.

Also, when looking to sell transformer toys or any other used action figures for that matter, you want to make sure you get them at the right price.  I’d pay $1 for transformer action figures all day long, but I might not pay that amount for other figures.   On the other hand, it can be worth it to pay much more than that for certain action figures too.  My opinion is when your first starting out, start off small and take bigger risks as you gain the experience.  Thanks for sharing your find Bill.

Now that the new Iron Man 2 movie is being released in theaters, you can bet the sales of Iron Man 2 toys and action figures will continue to soar. The 6 inch Wal-mart exclusive figures are no exception. With the Iron Man 2 mark VI and war machine hitting Wal-mart shelves, you can find yourself making a decent profit selling the pair together on eBay.

One eBay seller proves that thinking outside the box can make a big difference in profits. They know that marvel custom action figures are a good niche market to be in. Look at how this seller turned a $13 action figure into a $305 sale. Not for both figures….that was $305 for EACH!

Check out the eBay completed listing for the 6 inch Wal-mart war machine that was customized:

Making marvel custom action figures will not be a 5 minute project, but considering how much potential profit can be made, it may be worth the time to create them or have someone create them for you. If you interested in learning more about how to create marvel custom action figures, here is a great site you can visit that has a bunch of tutorials to get you started:

Evil-Lyn Contest Winner!

Congratulations to Ernesto who was the contest winner!  Ernesto will receive a masters of the universe action figure.

For those of us who tried to actually buy the figure this month and came up short…This is a perfect example of how much demand there is over supply right now for this toy line.  I expected the figure to sell out in under a half hour, but given last month’s figure sell out time, I figured it might go quicker.

I was just as unsuccessful at purchasing the figure as many others were.  I don’t think that’s ever happened before when I actually planned on buying a figure on their site…

However, there is a way to avoid this for monthly figures in the future.  MattyCollector  plans to up the production of the figures starting June, depending how much, will determine how the pricing will change on the secondary market if at all.  They also offer a year subscription option which you can sign up for and it guarantees you the monthly figure.  This option will be available sometime this summer.  If you want to avoid the hit or miss game with getting the figures this is your best option.  You get as many monthly figures as subscriptions you buy and when they open up subscriptions there is no limit as to how many you can purchase.  Not even the 10 figure limit there is monthly.

There has also been talk it is changing to a year subscription to include all figures including bonus figures but no official announcement has been made yet.  I missed the subscription sign-up last year and I know I plan on getting a few yearly subscriptions either way once they become available, just to guarantee I get some figures each month.

Thanks to all that participated in the contest,

John

Just a quick reminder that today Evil-Lyn goes on sale at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on April 19, 2010.

You still have until noon time to enter the contest.  Simply email me the  predicted sell out time for the figure.  Who ever has the closest prediction to the actual sell out time for the  figure will win a Masters of the Universe Classics action figure.

Another  great offline resource for finding deals that you can turn around and sell on eBay for great profits are storage auctions.  There are probably storage facilities right in your town or locally that have these auctions you can take advantage of.  It’s another way to acquire inexpensive inventory to resell online for huge profits.  My friend J.B. Malik has graciously donated his new ebook on the subject, to all members of deals for resale, and he shares with you all you need to know to get started.

You can check out J.B.’s video below:

If your a member of deals for resale you’ll want to check out the resource area to get your hands on a free copy of this ebook.  If your not a member and would like to join, you can do so by clicking here

If you’d rather just buy a copy of his ebook you can also do that by clicking here

One of the hardest things many sellers face when selling on eBay and Amazon is finding wholesalers to provide a steady supply of products to resell on eBay.

Skip McGrath just donated his new ebook: 44 eBay wholesale sources to the members area of the site.  These are real wholesale vendors who will work with eBay, Amazon and small website sellers.

If you haven’t signed up for the video series yet to get your member access, you can sign up via: http://deals4resale.com/video-series/
